Did you know that according to doctors, 75% of Americans suffer from chronic dehydration? As summer heats up, it becomes especially important to be drinking fluids to prevent dehydration, heat exhaustion, and even heatstroke. As amazing as water already is, sometimes we just need a little extra kick to it! Read our delicious water recipes and healthy tips below to get yourself sipping on water all day long.
Add a Splash of Flavor
If you are finding your current water routine a little too dull, try adding a splash of flavor! There are many water enhancers on the market such as Crystal Lite and Mio that are perfect for sprucing up your water on the go! You could also add a splash of unsweetened cranberry juice to your water for a similar effect.
Infuse with Fruit and Herbs
Not only does this make your water jug look cooler, but it will have you drinking more water all day long! If you are feeling tired, achy, or crampy try making fruit infused water. The best part is there are endless combinations you could try: berries with mint, cucumber with basil, orange and blueberry, or whatever else you can imagine!
Invest in Some Awesome Drinkware
Another tip to make drinking water more exciting is to find something that you’re excited to drink out of. Whether that means a sparkly water bottle, your alma mater themed tumbler or a cup with a bendy straw… find what makes you excited to keep the refills coming! Another option is to look for a hydro flask, which is an insulated metal cup that will keep your beverage ice cold for hours. This is especially important in the summers, and if you enjoy outdoor activities.
Fruit Ice Cubes
This is a simple and delicious way to spice up your ice. Simply add your choice of fruit or herbs to an ice tray halfway filled with water, freeze, and add them to your water. If you don’t wish to use actual fruit or herbs, you can use flavoring to make flavored ice cubes!
Bring on the Bubbles
If you are feeling like your water is simply falling flat – try sparkling water! You can find regular or flavored sparkling water at your local grocery store. To get more H20 and less carbonation, add 1 part sparkling water to 2 parts regular water.
Give a Squeeze
Add a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime juice will give your water a citrus and refreshing boost that’s perfect for water. Starting your day with a warm glass of lemon juice is also a fantastic way to get your metabolism jump started and ready for the day and helps aid digestion.
At Aston Gardens, we have water stations implemented all throughout the community, to encourage residents to stay hydrated! Water stations are also an excellent way to keep that awesome drinkware filled all day long!
