The holiday season is a merry, joyous time, made for good food, pretty sights, family, and love. If you need inspiration as to what to do during this holiday season, here are the 4 best fun holiday activities for your loved ones. We guarantee your loved ones will have a holly, jolly Christmas.
Light Display Tour
Community living can be made exciting with a light display tour. Decorate the town and prepare for Santa’s arrival with lit-up reindeer runways, pine tree selections, and jolly lights. Your loved ones are sure to enjoy the sights as they move around their living community, engaging in the activities prepared for them that include baking pies, caroling, and more!
Elf on the Shelf
Has your loved one heard of America’s newest favorite tradition: Elf on the Shelf? It is a tradition originally intended for children, but why should children get all the fun? Place elf dols in a different spot each day in December and surprise your loved ones as they try to guess where the elf appears next! Below are two Elf on the Shelf holiday activities your loved ones might enjoy:
- Elf Scavenger Hunt
Place multiple elves throughout the living community. This is an exciting way for residents to find out more about amenities made available in the community that they might not have previously known about. Tags featuring information about the amenity would be helpful for those who have just started their stay in the community.
- Find the Elf Contest
Place the elf in a different place each day and the first resident who spots the elf can inform the on-duty manager to receive the prize. That resident can get involved in the festive spirit too by helping the manager choose a spot for the elf to hide the next day. Elf on the Shelf activities are a great way for the elderly to bond with their grandchildren too!
Digital Season’s Greetings
Get involved in the activities of your loved one’s living community: send a video message telling them how much you love them or why you appreciate them and set your TVs to rotate those messages. Digital signage is useful in this regard because it can display these messages and also inform seniors of the list of activities that they can get involved in during the holiday season.
Secret Santa Activities
In a living community, the chances are that most everyone knows everyone. Why not add the element of surprise and mystery with a Secret Santa activity for your loved ones? Each person is given a name to whom they’ll give presents to for the few days leading up to Christmas. In turn, each person will also receive presents from their Secret Santa. The fun is in guessing who is giving you gifts before the big reveal on Christmas day!
