Nathan Benderson Park
While it may not be exactly on the 4th of July, Nathan Benderson Park will have some exciting events and activities occurring the day before. Here, you can find live music by Derek Lersch Band and The Black Honkeys, delicious food, various exhibitors, a kids zone, and a live firework at about 9 pm. In fact, the fireworks will also be broadcasted with WWSB ABC 7. And the best part? Admission to Nathan Benderson Park is also completely free.
Independence Day Parade
Independence Day Parade is another exciting 4th of July event you can enjoy in Sarasota, FL for an active retirement. The Anna Maria Island Privateers put on an annual procession that is from City Pier Park to Coquina Beach. Take note that the procession begins at 10 am., with staging beginning at 8 am, and lasts till about noon. The procession is free to attend, however, donations are also appreciated.
Suncoast Summer Fest
Suncoast Summer Fest is a two-day event that celebrates the 4th of July, and it is definitely one that you should visit in Sarasota, FL. Occurring from July 3rd to 4th, it has numerous exciting events and activities, such as live music by Sarasota Steel Pan Band, Mike Tozier, Soul Circus Cowboys, and Dr. Dave Band. Twinkle, Rock Soul Radio, and Big Night Out are also some of the other artists that you can watch at the Suncoast Summer Fest. Not to worry, the entrance is also free and it lasts from 11 am to 10 pm on July third and 3 to 7 pm on July fourth.
Punta Gorda’s Laishley Park
Punta Gorda’s Laishley Park is another location for an eventful 4th of July celebration in Sarasota, FL during your retirement days. Not only is there the Celebrate America Concert to honor America, but you can also enjoy the celebratory activities like waterslides, and a fireworks celebration right above the Peace River at 9 pm. In fact, the Celebrate America Concert includes famous artists like Josh Gracin, a former “American Idol” participant, the Jack Michael Band, and Flying Buffaloes. If you are interested, you should sign up earlier to snatch the discounted price for advance tickets, at $15. On the other hand, it costs $20 if you purchase on the day itself, and $60 and above reserved tables. For unlimited waterslide use, it cost $10.
Sarasota Opera House
If you prefer listening to people sing, going to Sarasota Opera House for their annual Independence Day program is a great way to celebrate the 4th of July. Not only does Choral Artists of Sarasota have performances that include uplifting choral pieces, but it also features patriotic anthems. Lakewood Ranch Wind Ensemble is also joining them for the first time. It is located at 61 N. Pineapple Ave., Sarasota, and costs about $25 to $50.
