The caregivers in an assisted living or retirement home work extremely hard to keep you or your loved one safe, healthy, and happy. In these instances, it is typical for families and others to wish to express their thanks with a gift. If you’ve been thinking about how to express your thanks to these hard employees but aren’t sure how, we’ve got some terrific suggestions for you.
-
Thank them
The words “thank you” can go a long way. It can do a lot to lift people’s emotions and let them know they’re valued. Little words of gratitude can brighten someone’s day. Take a step further and convey how grateful you are for them, as well as how much you value their care and attention.
-
Write them Cards
Expressing your thanks in writing adds a personal touch that shows how much you actually appreciate them. Giving a card to one person or a unit, even if it simply says thank you, is a terrific way to show thanks. It might mean the world to a caregiver if you take the time to send a thank you note. A message is especially appreciated since it is something tangible that they can keep.
-
Send them Gifts
Individual personnel in most nursing homes are not permitted to receive presents from residents or their relatives. Please verify with the administration before sending them anything. If they give you the go-ahead, there are plenty of ideas on the internet. Another option is to make a contribution in their honor to the caregiver’s preferred charity. You might also make a collective donation to a department or a shift at the nursing home. A beautiful bouquet of flowers, a book, or a gift voucher to the person or persons you wish to thank would be an excellent present.
-
Give them Food
Find out what your unit’s personnel likes, or what a particular LPN’s hidden indulgence is, and have it delivered to them. You or your family might make or bake something to give as a present. You might also leave food for the individual or persons you wish to thank. As a thank-you present, any care facility would welcome food.
-
Contact the Supervisor
A simple conversation with, or email or letter to, the manager to let them know who has gone above and beyond for you is always appreciated. The management will be thrilled to know that you are pleased with the care you are receiving, and the individual being thanked will receive the recognition they deserve from the employees. This is especially useful if your loved one expresses admiration for certain personnel but you are unable to meet them.
